good morning. >> good morning you to. our major warm-up continues for your sunday afternoon. highs will be 5 to 10 to 12 degrees above yesterday's highs. at this hour sunnier skies outside our doors. less after marine layer. it's a cool start in some areas. i'll have a detail of your afternoon highs coming up. in overnight news, one person is dead after a fight in san jose. just before 1:00 this morning, police were called to a disturbance in the area of monterey highway and bearle avenue. another man who may have been stabbed in the same area was transported to the hospital. officers are checking to see if the two cases are related. oakland police received numerous noise complaints about a large raid. tens of thousands of people

packed the coliseum. it featured more than 20 music acts. callers complaining about the noise described it as the loudest it's ever been at the coliseum but rave attendees say the event stayed fairly peaceful. [indiscernible] >> reporter: you didn't see any conflicts? >> i was here with a whole bunch of friends. it really was an amazing experience. >> no one under the age of 18 was allowed. the rave ran from 6:00 last night till 2:00 this morning. people came from as far away as southern california. teams from the f.b.i. and a.t.f. could arrive today to investigate a fire at the private law office of vallejo mayor osby davis. davis is a high profile figure. the fire broke out around 1:30 saturday morning at the building davis shares with

another attorney. police are calling the fire very suspicious. i'm not going to go into whether the mayor has protection or not. obviously if there is a degree of concern for his saved, we as an organization, police department, will certainly do what we can to address that issue. >> there have been random acts of vandalism but nothing compared to the damage caused by the fire. client records were also destroyed. firefighters are looking into the cause of a massive fire that destroyed a warehouse in san jose. it happened just about 2:30 yesterday afternoon on 10th and heading streets. firefighters say the fire was so intense, they couldn't enter the building and focused on protecting nearby apartments. >> it's kind of depressing. we used to looked at that building and wonder what could have become of it. now it's just gone. >> investigators are still trying to determine who owned the abandoned building. it was last rental steered to allied container corporation. pge says a squirrel is responsible for knock be out power to almost 11,000

customers in the oakland and berkley hills. the utility says the animal got into some equipment at an outdoor substation around 5:00 last night. power was restored to most customers in about 90 minutes, but that was not soon enough for some college avenue restaurants hoping to capitalize on the football game at cal. >> this was a huge night for us. last year cal was in san francisco. we lost some of that business, although it wasn't that bad but we were really happy and excited to get the regular saturday night visits back, especially on a cal football day. >> the outage affected customers north of broadway terrace and east of claremont avenue in oakland and west of grizzly park boulevard in berkley. a restaurant in alamo is holding a fund-raiser tonight for the family of fallen chp officer kenyan youngstrom. he was shot and killed during a traffic stop on september 5. he's survived by his wife and four children. a fallen hero's group is

helping organize the fund- raiser. the dinner dance begins at 6:00 tonight. a concert is going to benefit businesses destroyed by a fire in san francisco last month. the four-alarm fire broke out on ocean avenue. it was back on august 7. firefighters encountered dangerous conditions and experienced a backdrift. nine businesses were damaged causing $3 million worth of damage. the businesses, three of them, were destroyed and will have to be torn down. starting tomorrow, shoppers in san francisco must bring reusable bags to the store. the city's bag ordinance goes into effect. they must charge customers a dime for each bag unless the shopper brings their own. that bag law kicks in for restaurants and bakeries next year. san francisco mayor ed lee is scheduled to make welcoming remarks at oracle's 2012 conference tonight. more than 50,000 people are expected to tearnldz the event

-- attended the event in san francisco. oracle's c.e.o. is expected to announce a revamp of the company's database system at that event. oracle is also expected to reveal new servers for computing. you may want to check the status of your flight if you're flying out of san francisco international airport today. one of the primary runways is closed and that could cause some delays. this is the final weekend of the runway closures for work to install new lights and safety features. airport officials say air traffic should return to normal by tomorrow morning. today is a spare the air day. officials are asking people to avoid driving or using gas powered equipment in order to cut down on unhealthy air pollution. people are also being asked to take public transit or use other alternatives such as carpooling. so if yesterday you're thinking to yourself the weather is great but would like it a smidge warmer?

good morning to you. looks a little foggy out there this morning. but we have plenty of sunshine in store for today. temperatures will warm over yesterday's highs. new this morning, a mob of 25,000 ride es have torched buddhist temples and homes over a photo of the kuran posted on facebook. it happened in bangladesh. at least five temples and dozens of homes have burned. the rioters claim a buddhist man from the area uploaded that photo. a child was killed and three others injured in a grenade attack at a sunday school class in kenya. police say supporters of the somali militant group pay be behind today's violence. churches have been the site of several attacks. in libya, hundreds of people have turned over weapons from the uprising that toppled moammar qaddafi.

more than 200 weapons have been collected, including a tank, heat seeking missiles and ammunition. it comes aft september 11 attack on the american consulate in benghazi that killed ambassador chris stevens. the weapons collected are just a fraction of the arms taken from qaddafi's arsenals during the rebellion. to americans were killed in an attack in afghanistan. it happened at a check point just west of kabul. they do not have the exact details of what happened but some witnesses say an afghan soldier shot at americans who then returned fire. during the ensuing battle, a mortar shell killed an american soldier and an american contractor. officials say the afghan who fired first was killed in the shootout. 2,000 american service members have now died in afghanistan since the u.s.-led invasion in 2001. the youngest prisoner at guantanamo bay has been returned to canada after spending a decade in custody. omar gutter was 15 years old when he was captured in a

bombed out afghan compound and taken into u.s. custody. in 2010 he pleaded guilty to murdering a u.s. soldier as part of a plea deal, he returned to canada. authorities say he was taken to afghanistan by his father who is said to be a senior al qaeda member who prince advertised his son to -- apprenticed his son to a group of bomb makers. the navy's newest destroyer will be commissioned. u. snches s. michael murphy cruzed into the harbor. it's neamed after a navy -- named after a navy seal killed in 2009. the destroyer was built at the bath rye ron work dms maine. -- iron works in maine. california has become the first state in the country to ban therapies that attempt to change the sexual orientation of minors. yesterday governor jerry brown signed the bill banning mental

i'm claudine wong. shoppers will have to start bringing reusable bags pretty much where they go. we have pore on the new ordinance that takes effect tomorrow. >> reporter: today a bag like this is free if you want to get it at retailer like a hardware store or supermarket or some place like that around san francisco but starting tomorrow, a bag like this will cost you a dime. starting tomorrow, october 1, the city's new checkout bag ordinance goes into effect. all retailers except restaurants have to switch from plastic bags to paper or compostable bags. if customers want a bag, retailers will be charging 10 cents each. the city's department of the environment is overseeing the changeover and hopes the new rules will encourage customers to change their habits and bring reusable bags when they shop. the dime surcharge is aimed at helping the retailers offset their increased costs associated with switching from plastic to paper or compostable bag. restaurants and takeout food places are exempt for right now. they will be included in the

plastic bag ban next year. we're live in san fran, ktvu channel 2 news. family and friends of an oakland man shot and killed by police are demanding more details about his death. >> justice for alex. >> 18-year-old alan bluford was killed when he ran from police. the following day police said a gun believed to have been the suspect's had not been fired. instead the officer had shot himself in the foot. police say there are witnesses who saw the suspect point a gun at police. the family is suing the city. the trial begins tomorrow for the woman accused of killing nursing student michele lei. she disappeared from kaiser permanente in hayward on may 27, 2011. her body was found a couple months later on september 17. jezelle esteban is accused in

again today at 1:05. there is a mystery hovering over the skies of jacksonville, texas, at least according to google maps. when you type in jacksonville, texas you get to the screen and you see that street view. you're allowed to pan around. look at that. a strange object can be seen in the sky. it was actually found by a local reporter when she was goingling directions. people who live in that area were surprised to see the image on google maps and most have no idea about what it could be. >> what is that? >> a car? the sky? >> that is pretty amazing. >> i don't know. looks like a jellyfish. >> jellyfish, a car. a similar image to that one can also be seen on google maps over pueblo in new mexico. so far google has not responded to questions about those objects. well, some people in texas were jolted by a magnitude 3.4 earthquake near dallas

overnight. the quake hit late last night about two miles north of irving. there have been no reports of major damage or injuries but the quake did crack some walls and knock down some pictures and at least 1200 people reported feeling that quake. heavy rain continues to fall across much of the north and west parts of texas. yesterday about six inches of rain fell in abilene. flash flooding resulted in road closures but no major damage was reported. on friday midland also suffered its worst flooding in years. underpass there is were flooded with about 5 feet of water. people did have to get rescued from their cars after getting stuck. a lot of talk about oracle world in san francisco this week. but also today is the race. should abgood day. >> it is a gorgeous day. runners like it when it's cool. we are seeing that acrossed board. we are looking at temperatures -- across the board. we're looking at temperatures

california's proposition 8 which bans same-sex marriage in the state. the supreme court is asked to decide if they're going to hear the appeal through the ruling. affirmative action was originally brought by a white woman who claims she was denied admission to the university of texas because of her race. another big issue on the calendar, a key provision of the historic voting rights act of 1965 which calls for federal supervision of some states and counties with a history of discrimination. here in california governor jerry brown has a few more days to sign or veto the remaining bills on his desk. yesterday he vetoed a bill that would have banned disrupting cell phone service without a court order. that bill came after last year's decision by bart to cut cell phone service in an effort to disrupt a planned protest. brown said the bill could, quote, divert attention away from a true emergency by requiring the court order and he is urging the bill's author

to amend it. >> california lawmakers will no longer get a break on the cost of vanity license plates. governor jerry brown has signed a bill ending the personalized license plate discount to current and retired lawmakers. right now members of the state legislature and congressional delegation pay $12 for vanity plates and are exempt if registration fees. the new law requires elghted officials to -- elected firms to pay the same price as their constituents for the plates. we are learning about the forgets of similar legislation in new york for the fight for bill of rights. new york passed the nation's first bill of rights for house keepers, caregivers and nannies two years ago. some domestic workers say they are now working with a written contract that guarantees overtime and days off. but authorities say many employers are not aware of the law and domestic workers in california have held several wallys at the state -- rallies at the state capital. advocates for undocumented
